I would like to know if there is any advice that new parents or others could offer about what to do to prepare for baby Landon? He will be here in a few short months & maybe you can help us by suggesting things you may have forgotten or delayed before the baby arrived. This could be about the anything. I just want to work on the stuff I can now before life with Landon gets crazy. And yes, I'm getting lots & lots of sleep! Hope to hear from you all!
I would definitely say one big thing that helped me is preparing for when he comes home. What I mean by this is having all your bills paid, clean house, most if not all of his clothes already washed, meals in the fridge and freezer already prepared and easy to make. I know how much of a planner you are so I know you will of course already have most of this done. I just think this is some of the best advice I can give. It really made the transistion home when we just wanted to focus on bringing our baby home that I didn't have to worry about all the other stuff too. Also definitely having everything in his room set up. Like I said the clothes washed and ready in the drawers (because he will probably spit a lot if he is anything like Riley, Collin, Connor, and Peyton basically all of his cousins). Having all the diapers and wipes full and ready to be used and definitely the burp cloths.
ReplyDeleteAnother thing, which I know you have already signed up for it is the classes. They helped Adam and I so much we just loved them.
One other big thing I can say is when you do pack your bags make sure you get Ken plenty of snacks and drinks and if he needs any meds like tylenol or anything definitely grab that. Adam had a headache and the nurse would not give him any tylenol. And you remember with Riley how much we had to go get Adam some food and snacks. It was so helpful with Collin to already have the food there. I know I got food from the hospital (which was not good), but they did not bring Adam any food.
Also one last thing is having all the stuff together for his baths and caring for the umbilical cord and other things (vaseline, alcohol, qtips, infant tylenol, etc...) I never thought about that but was very helpful to have with Collin that we did not have to run to the store and buy the day we got home with him like we did with Riley.
I think I have probably shared enough "motherly wisdom" for now. I know how prepared you are though and you probably have already thought of most of this from reading and watching what Lindsey and I forgot to do or what we found helpful. You know I am here if you want anymore advice. I don't think you need much, however, because you are naturally going to be a great mother and know what to do.
Love,
Aunt Terry
YAY for 22 weeks!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Terry- We started buying wipes, diapers, & the nursery water tonight. I told Ken if we pickup one when we go to the store it won't seem like so much & I'll make sure to get extras. I think I'll make a trip to Costco before Landon arrives for paper goods, frozen meals, etc.
ReplyDeleteThats awesome that you guys are starting already getting them. Like you say if you get a little at a time then when he does get here you will be stocked up on everything and the cost won't be so high all at once. I am excited to help you in the next coming months with whatever you need to prepare for him. I can't wait and you know I will be here for whatever you need.
